Property tax and Metered utility payments must be received in our office, by the due date, to be considered on time.
Payment Methods Accepted
- Search "Maple Ridge" as a payee, add either the tax option or Utility/metered water option (please note if paying the flat rate utilities from your Property Tax notice, please pay to your property tax account)
- Property Tax account number is your property's folio number or roll number without dashes or spaces
- Utilities account number is account number on your utility bill
- If you have questions specific to your online banking service, please contact your financial institution
- Visit or call your financial institution, have your current property tax notice with you.
- Open Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, excluding Statutory holidays

- Debit, cheque, or cash is accepted (cash has a maximum of $10,000)
- We do not accept credit cards for property tax or utility payments

- Can pay taxes (maximum of $5,000 per transaction) or utilities (maximum of $1,000 per transaction)
- Multiple payments can be made if your outstanding balance exceeds those limits
- By automated phone (1-855-480-9594) or online
- Accepts Visa, MasterCard and American Express
- Convenience fee of 1.75% of payment amount
- You will need your Tax Notice or Utility Invoice, and credit card
- Cheque - Postdated cheques are accepted.
- Postdated cheques for the due date may take 3 - 4 business days to process upon receiving, but it will be acknowledged for the postdate or received date at City Hall, whichever is later.
- Your receipt is the cancelled cheque unless otherwise requested.
- Bank returned, post-dated cheques for the due date are treated as a late payment. Penalties and a service fee will be applied.

Drop Box
- Located as a slot in the wall at the far west corner of the Economic Development office beside City Hall
- Cheques - please include the remittance slip or attach a note of which account to apply your payment to
- Do not deposit cash in the drop box
Mail in Cheque
- You can mail a cheque payable to the City of Maple Ridge, include remittance slips or note indicating which account to apply payment to. We accept post dated cheques. The cancelled cheque is your receipt unless otherwise requested.
- The date of the payment is the date it is received in our office. If it is received after the due date, a penalty will apply.
The drop box and mail is checked daily and payments will be processed. If you require a receipt for a payment, please indicate on the invoice submitted and a receipt will be mailed or emailed out.
The Province of BC offers a low interest loan program designed to help qualified BC Home Owners pay their annual property taxes. For Detailed Information and qualification requirements, please visit the Provincial Deferment Website.
To avoid Penalty before the due date be sure to:
- apply for your deferment online
- Claim your Home Owner grant, if eligible
- Pay the Total Utility Services amount listed on your Property Tax Notice
Prepayment Options
Ways to Prepay Taxes:
PAWS - Pre-Authorized Withdrawal program
PAWS Amendment/Cancellation Form
- 10 month program ( August to May - 10 payments)
- Withdrawal is on the 5th of each month
- No regular withdrawals in June or July
- Optional July due date withdrawal
- Sign up anytime of the year
- Program will automatically continue until cancellation is requested in writing
- Payments not honoured by the applicant's financial institution are subject to a $25 service fee
- 3 returned payments will result in your withdrawal being cancelled
- Taxpayers selling their property and enrolled in PAWS are responsible for cancelling PAWS
Optional Features
- Annual Recalculation: Your monthly payments will automatically change for the next year based on the taxes for the current year plus an estimated increase minus the Home Owner grant(if eligible)
- Annual Debit on Tax Due Date: On the day the taxes are due, we will withdraw the amount owing in the column you have designated for us to pay

- Bill will continue to be mailed every quarter

- Owners selling their property and enrolled in UPAWS are responsible for cancelling their plan
- Payments not honoured by the applicant's financial institution are subject to late penalties and a $25 Service Fee
- The City will cancel the UPAWS agreement in three consecutive withdrawals are not honoured by the applicant's financial institution
